ADHESIVES
Adhesives for eyelash extensions belong to the group of cyanoacrylates, they are adhesives that bond two surfaces in the presence of moisture.
What kind of eyelash glue to choose?
This is one of the questions that is asked most often when shopping in our store.
The answer depends on several factors:
What method will I be working with?
Do I work on black or colored lashes?
What is the humidity and temperature in my work area?
How fast is the application rate?
We can divide eyelash adhesives primarily in terms of:
- color - mainly black glue is used, but some time ago a colorless glue appeared on the market. We use it when working on colored eyelashes,
- speed of work - volume adhesives are definitely faster in action and more thin than those recommended to beginners for the classic method,
- vapidity - the low-vapor adhesives available at Wonder Lashes are WL4 (formerly HS4) and BioLash glue, these are adhesives that contain butylcyanoacrylate.
This type of cyanoacrylate is contained in eyelash adhesives for allergy sufferers. However, it should be borne in mind that any adhesive, even an anti-allergic one, contains a small amount of classic cyanoacrylate, so you should always perform an allergy test before applying it to a client with an allergy to the adhesive.
Which adhesive to choose for the room conditions?
The influence of temperature and humidity will be a key factor in choosing the right eyelash glue.
First of all, we should consider checking these factors, and for this a hygrometer will work for us.
With its help we will be sure whether we are looking for a glue for high temperature and humidity, or rather for a lower one. If the humidity is quite low, between 35 and 45%, we recommend choosing “touch”, half-second or second-second eyelash adhesives. If, on the other hand, the temperature and humidity increase significantly, it is better to stick to slower adhesives, those that we would normally use for classic methods; adhesives recommended for such conditions include WL10 (formerly HS10) or New Very Strong Glue.
Proper use and storage of eyelash glue will be crucial to the longevity of the application.
What should be kept in mind when using eyelash glue?
- do not leave the glue in a place where it will be exposed to high humidity or direct sunlight (a heat insulating bag or glue box will work best here),
- do not store the glue “upside down”,
- do not forcibly squeeze out the glue, after turning the bottle over, wait and let the droplet “drip” onto the pad,
- after opening, the expiration date of the glue is a maximum of three months, but after even a month, depending on how often the product is used, partial polymerization may occur inside the bottle - advice - write the date of opening with a permanent marker on the package,
- do not apply the glue to the client after the expiration date, the date of production is shown on the bottom of the bottle, from this date the glue retains its properties for eight months,
-we do not store the eyelash glue in the refrigerator , frequent temperature changes do not serve it.
Additional products for glue:
- glue accelerator - used on a strip of eyelashes will allow us to work faster,
- glue stickers - mandatory used on the glue stone or slide, they have a perfect surface, so that the drop is fresh longer,
- glue box - hermetically sealed container for glue - protects from light and moisture,
- heat insulating bag - protects from temperature and moisture,
- glue stone - an ideal pad, its weight does not allow the droplets to move and spill, and the low temperature allows you to work on the droplet longer,
- glue needle - does not allow the glue to solidify in the dispenser mouth.
